Frequently Asked Questions

Read through the FAQ section to learn more information about the blog, services, and materials.  If you still have a question after reading this page, feel free to send me an email and I will respond as soon as I can.

What age population do you serve?

As a pediatric speech and language pathologist, I work with children ages birth thru 18 years old.  The bulk of my experience has been with clients ages 10 months – 16 years of age.

When do services begin?

First, click on the “BEGIN REGISTRATION” button and complete the questionnaire.  Services begin once electronic payment is received via Paypal or credit card.

What happens when I buy a package?

Based on responses from the intake questionnaire, speech and language goals will be written specifically for your child.  You can expect a list of weekly activities emailed to you to help achieve those goals.  In addition, you can expect questions answered in a timely manner.

How often do you respond to emails?

I strive to answer all emails ASAP and guarantee to respond to emails within 48-hours except for weekends and holidays.

Do you accept health insurance?

No, Water the Sponge does not accept health insurance.  These services are priced affordably to provide parents and caregivers with a supplementary and convenient option for speech and language therapy services.

Does Water the Sponge accept all clients?

You will be notified upon completion of intake paperwork whether or not you are a good match for the services Water the Sponge offers.  Water the Sponge reserves the right not to work with you based on answers to intake questions, limited capacity, or other reasons.

My child already works with an SLP.  Can I work with Water the Sponge?

Yes, you can use the services provided by Water the Sponge in addition to in-person therapy.  However, please be sure to read our disclaimer located on the FAQ page.

Does email consultation replace in-person therapy?

No.  Email consultation does not replace in-person therapy.  It does, however, provide parents with resources to boost speech and language learning at home.  Please read our disclaimer.

How will I be charged for services?

For the one-month email consultation package, you will be charged a one-time fee upfront.  For the three-month email consultation package, you can choose to pay the entire cost upfront ($400) or make three monthly payments (first payment $150 and subsequent payments of $125).

Water the Sponge will email you an invoice which can be paid via Paypal or credit card.  Water the Sponge reserves the right to discontinue services if monthly payments are not made on-time.

What if I want to extend my current package?

During your final week of email consultation services, you will be notified that our consultation period is coming to an end.  If you feel that your child could benefit from additional services, we can consider extending the consultation period for an additional month.

What is your refund policy?

If you change your mind within 48-hours of purchasing your package, you are entitled to a full refund.  Refunds are not given after that.

Disclaimer

Email consultation services do not replace in-person therapy.  If a client is already working with a speech therapist outside of consultative services, then the client is advised to heed the advice of the in-person therapist.  If the therapist working at Water the Sponge does not feel adequately equipped to provide email consultative services, then the client will not be charged and instead be advised accordingly.  As the therapist working at Water the Sponge will not meet clients in-person or via teletherapy, diagnoses cannot and will not be made via email.  However, the therapist will alert parents if there are red flags regarding the child’s development.  Children who present with moderate to severe diagnoses would benefit from in-person therapy, while children on the cusp of a speech and language disorder would benefit from the services provided at Water the Sponge.  Finally, the services provided at Water the Sponge will prove to be most successful if parents and/or caregivers are actively involved in the provided activities.  Do not expect your child to make progress in speech and language skills at home if activities are not attempted or are used only minimally.  Thank you for working with me at Water the Sponge and I look forward to working with you and your child!
